Silver Beet

Varieties that I've used so far; Fordhook Giant

When to sow; Hot All year round Warm Spring, Summer, Autumn Cool Spring, Summer, Autumn

Location; Well drained position

Sow; In rows, dropping several seeds in clumps along each row and keep moist. Best to soak the seeds for a couple of hours for better results.

Spacing; about 30cm to 40cm.

Germination; 10-14 days

Harvest; About 8-12 weeks.

Tips; Leaving 4 or 5 centre stalks will promote quick regrowth, so just cut the outside stalks and keep well watered.  If you have a hot dry day/s and they don't look the best just give a water and they will pick themselves up again.

What luck have I had; Another must have in your veggie patch will feed you all year round even in the colder parts, I wouldn't be without them.
